  • Does SmartAC.com work with smart thermostats?

    SmartAC.com was designed to be compatible with all 
AC/Heating systems and all thermostats. Your thermostat will continue to turn the unit on and off based on your comfort settings. The SmartAC.com sensors will act independently to monitor the unit performance and do not need to interface with the thermostat.

  • Does SmartAC.com use cameras or microphones?

    SmartAC.com does not utilize cameras or microphones in any of its devices

  • Does SmartAC.com improve air quality?

    SmartAC.com can improve air quality via our constant monitoring of the static pressure drop across the air filter. We can detect increased pressure loss, often indicating build up of debris and particulates. This can lead to a notification to change the air filter outside of a "standard" days schedule. This brings increased visibility to preserve air quality, even during times of increased filter load.

  • Do I need a smartphone?

    If you would like to monitor your system operation and receive alerts, yes. However, your HVAC provider will notify you if anything requires attention.

  • Do I need an internet connection?

    Yes, the SmartAC.com system needs an internet connection to be able to capture, share, and provide you with current data about your system’s health.

  • How long do batteries last?

    Batteries can last anywhere from 12 - 18 months. Batteries can be changed by technician or the homeowner, see the app for instructions.

  • How long will it take to setup?

    The hardware can be setup in under 15 mins.

  • How do I know something is wrong with my system?

    All alerts are listed in the app. The alerts that require immediate action, such as water leak alerts, are sent as push notifications, emails, and text messages.

  • How does SmartAC.com work with multiple AC systems?

    SmartAC.com can monitor the health of multiple systems, but additional sensors will be required. Your technician will be able to determine your home’s hardware needs

  • Who will contact me if there is an issue with my system?

    You will be notified by your HVAC provider if there are any issues.

  • How much data will it use?

    An entire month’s worth of SmartAC.com data will use about as much of your WiFi as just 5 minutes of your favorite Netflix show!



    Even though SmartAC.com gathers 50,000 data points daily, the data usage is minuscule compared to other common internet usage activities.
